A crucial session of a nomination committee set up by systemic Greek lender Piraeus Bank will convene on Thursday, with one or two executives expected to be recommended to the bank's board for the supreme position of CEO.

The committee reportedly has a "short list" of six candidates, with a sole candidate to be proposed if a unanimous view is ascertained.

According to "N", the mood in Piraeus' boardroom has improved among members representing different major shareholders.

Moreover, Piraeus Bank President Giorgos Hatzinikolaou recently met with SSM officials in Frankfurt, part of a bid to gauge European banking regulators' views on the candidates included on the short list, and ostensibly to preclude opposition to a specific candidate.
