The latest instance of Turkish warplanes entering the Athens FIR without a flight plan turned into over-flights of a couple of small Greek islets in the eastern Aegean on Monday, at the same time as nearly 200 irregular migrants and Third World would-be refugees landed on the island of Lesvos after setting off unhindered from the opposite Turkish coast.

According to a Greek military dispatch, two pairs of Turkish warplanes -- F4 "Phantoms" and a couple of F-16s -- were tracked as entering the Athens FIR at 13.32 local time (11.32 GMT) between Lesvos and Hios (Chios). The first pair flew over the islets of Makronissi and Anthropofaghi at a height of only 3,000 feet,  before exiting the Athens FIR at roughly 2 p.m. local time.

The other pair of intruders flew over the same islets at a height of 18,000 feet, exiting the Athens FIR just after 2 p.m. between the islands of Samos and Kos.
