2 Miles From Home Greece, 2020, 84 min, World Premiere   Director/Writer/Producer: Julia Speropoulos Music: Konstantinos Sidiropoulos   Focusing on the period during 1914-1923, and peaking at the arrival of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk at Samsun on May 19th, 1919, this was the climax of the genocide of the Greeks of the Black Sea (Pontic/pontian Greeks), killing more than 353,000 Pontic Greeks. In this documentary, the poorer, uprooted, full-of-hardships survivors, their descendants, historians, and genocide activists speak about the genocidal crimes. Through new and archive footage, 2d animation, sketches, archive photos and newspapers, this documentary provokes the discovery of the truth beyond denial.   Julia Speropoulos is a Greek American director/producer. She graduated with an acting degree from Florida International University. She also studied at New York Film Academy, NY. She performed in Free Rider,and hosted the Greek Sewer Stories Metropolis show by the Dutch channel VPRO. As assistant director won several awards. Jean is her first documentary, won three awards, and was selected at several film festivals. Her documentary Yubi acquired one award, and was selected at documentary festivals. She currently travels between the United States and Greece.
