For sensitive shipments, a new memory chip that gets erased when exposed to blue light, like daylight, could be used to alert recipients to potential tampering. The chip uses a thin semiconductor attached to a material that, when stretched, will shrink back to its original position slowly, or immediately when exposed to certain wavelengths of light. This could be useful as a barcode printed inside sensitive shipments. If the shipment is opened and exposed to daylight before reaching its destination, the memory chip would get cleared, which would alert the recipient to tampering upon receipt.
