A joint Greek-Egyptian naval exercise, code-named “Medusa 8”, will commence on April 13 in the sea region off Alexandria, and with the participation of military assets from the Republic of Cyprus also envisioned.

The Hellenic Navy contingent will include four warships, including a frigate, as well as a squandron of F-16s, helicopters of all types and a platoon of marines.

The Egyptian forces will include a helicopter carrier and four other warships, as well as warplanes and helicopters.

Cyprus will send a patrol boat and a special ops unit.

Officers from 16 countries, including the US, France and Germany have been invited to observe the exercise.
