The Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator, the entity that manages Greece’s power grid, said electricity had been restored throughout the large island of Crete by the early afternoon.
A short-circuit that caused a fire in a transformer at the PPC-operated power station, in the Linoperamata site near Irakleio, was responsible for the blackout.
