A light earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale was recorded at 11:52 a.m. (09.52 GMT), according to initial estimates by a geodynamic institute in Athens.

The quake's epicenter was pinpointed at 21 kilometers south of the harbor town of Gytheio, and 58 kilometers south of Sparta. No damages have been reported so far.
