A high-ranking government council (KYSEA), chaired by the prime minister, on Saturday formally approved of a contract to upgrade 85 US-made F-16s operated by the Hellenic Air Force, a more-or-less expected decision that did, however, come just before a relevant deadline was set to expire.
The contract aims to upgrade the warplanes into the "Viper" model.
