Greek athlete wins North Pole Marathon

A Greek runner, Argyrios Papathanasopoulos, on Sunday won the "world’s coolest marathon", coming in first among 46 competitors at the North Pole's Camp Barneo.

According to media reports, temperatures near -33C for the event.

“Almost unbelievable. You know I’m a Greek guy so this is not the right place for me; it’s like an Eskimo running a race in the desert,” Papathanasopoulos said.

He covered the distance in 4.34:36.
