Main opposition New Democracy (ND) party on Wednesday made good on its promise to table a question in Parliament into a proposed sale of excess Greek military ordnance to Saudi Arabia.
The development comes after several days of political "tit-for-tats" between the opposition, New Democracy included, and the defense ministry, with outspoken Minister Panos Kammenos attracting most of the criticism.
The primary charged lobbed at the defense ministry and Kammenos, who heads up the small rightist-populist party propping up the coalition government, is the existence of a middleman in the deal to sell-off surplus ammunition, artillery rounds and air force bombs to Saudi Arabia.
In an earlier reply, Kammenos denied that an agreement had been signed with any middleman, adding that no ordnance or ammunition has been delivered as yet. He also reiterated that the agreement is on a government-to-government basis and denied that a high-ranking military officer was cashiered or suspended as a "whistle blower", but rather was transferred to another department.
