Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras underlined what he called an "absolute priority" given by his coalition government to attracting foreign investments to the recession-battered country, in a meeting with the editors of several top media organizations in Washington on Tuesday - hours after his White House talks with Donald Trump.

According to reports, he cited his personal chairmanship of a task force for major investments to the country, a recently unveiled development law and incentives for investors.

The coalition government has been trying to allay investors' fears of proverbial red-tape in the country, bureaucratic foot-dragging and an often hostile attitude towards major investments by some top ministers. A multi-billion-euro real estate development project in coastal southeast Athens (Helleniko) has still not left the drawing board, while the biggest industrial investment in the country (the Hellas Gold mining concession in northern Greece) has been beset by legal challenges, grassroots protests and delayed licensing by state services.

Editors from FT, Bloomberg, Politico, PBS, CNBC, the Washington Post, the WSJ and other major media were represented.
