Outgoing US President Barack Obama is sending his own message of support for the Greek government and Greek citizens, days before he arrives in Athens for a two-day visit.
In an interview with the Athens daily “Kathimerini”, the two-term US president cites the long-standing US-Greece alliance and underlines that Washington will stick by Greece as the latter proceeds with painful reforms and ensures a humane treatment for refugees.
Specifically, in terms of the former, Obama acknowledges the fact that Greece must reform its economy, while praising the government and people for the measures taken so far.
Finally, he said he’ll continue to push creditors to take necessary steps, including debt relief, so that the country can return to healthy economic growth
