More than 90 pavilions and a robust presence of hosted buyers from nine countries were on hand for the opening of the inaugural Nostos Greek Alternative Tourism Expo on Friday in the coastal resort town of Nafpaktos, in south central Greece.

The exhibition, which was set to run until Monday, is organized by the local municipality and is under the auspices of the relevant development and tourism ministry and the National Tourism Organization (GNTO), among others.

Specifically, 32 hosted buyers representing 26 tour agencies from nine countries – Austria, France, Germany, Israel, the Netherlands, Russia, Serbia Cyprus and Greece – were present for the exhibition, along with no less than 570 exhibitors – an indication of the very noteworthy interest in Greece-based “alternative tourism” sector.

Nafpaktos is a picturesque harbor town located on the north coast of the Gulf of Corinth, noted for its medieval fortress and verdant, mountainous landscape.
