A 33-year-old Syrian national on Friday was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting two refugee boys near a temporary refugee camp on the Dodecanese island of Leros.
The man, according to reports, has also filed for refugee status. He was arrested after a prosecutor on the island of Kos issued an arrest warrant.
According to the indictment, the suspect allegedly assaulted the two minors as they were swimming off a beach near a “hot spot” center on the island.
Charges were initially made by the children’s parents.
