Minor scuffles and back-and-forth pushing between protesting pensioners, roughly 2,000 in number, and riot police was the "highlight" from Monday’s rally in Athens by the former, who tried to reach the prime minister’s heavily guarded office.
Riot police made use of tear gas to push back the bloc of mostly upper middle-aged and elderly protestors.
Protestors’ representatives demanded that they be allowed to reach Alexis Tsipras’ office, at the Maximos Mansion, in order to personally express their grievances.
The rally disbursed after being told that Tsipras was already in Parliament.
