VAT remittances in August 2016 reportedly surpassed the target for the specific month, while the target for the first eight-month period was surpassed by 3.01 percent.
The finance ministry’s services said the goal was surpassed in large part due to increased revenues from various popular Greek islands over the summer season, which in past years generated paltry revenues relative to the transactions conducted by millions of tourists.
VAT remittances in August surpassed the target by 9.91 percent.
