Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met with Bank of Greece (BoG) Gov. Yannis Stournaras on Saturday at his office, in the wake of an unprecedented raid of the central banker’s home two days ago by anti-corruption prosecutors.

The action was ostensibly part of a probe into an advertising company run by Stournaras’ wife, Stavroula, and the contracts it received from a state-run disease control and prevention agency.

Both men met at Tsipras’ main office at 6 p.m. local time, while Stournaras met earlier with government deputy PM Yannis Dragasakis.

The prosecutors’ raid of Stournaras’ residence sent shock waves through the political scene, with the opposition pointing efforts to pressure Stournaras, a very high-profile technocrat who runs an autonomous institution in the country, and one now linked intimately with the European Central Bank.
