The latest opinion poll results released this week show a lead of eight percentage points by main opposition New Democracy (ND) party over ruling SYRIZA party.
The opinion poll results were published on the tvxs.gr site and conducted by the Palmos Analysis firm.
Specifically, respondents who said they preferred ND reached 21 percent, whereas the figure for SYRIZA was 13 percent.
In an extrapolation of the results and taking into consideration the undecided / undetermined vote, ND is given a five-percentage point lead, 32 percent to SYRIZA’s 27 percent.
In terms of respondents’ preference, the Communist Party is given 4.9 percent; the ultra-nationalist Golden Dawn 4.6 percent and the socialist PASOK-led grouping 3.1 percent. None of the other parties cited in the opinion poll are given more than 3 percent of the vote – the figure necessary in a general election for entry into Parliament.
Only through an extrapolation of the vote does a party established by former Parliament president Zoi Konstantopoulou appear entering the legislature.
