The finance ministry’s relevant directorate on Tuesday released figures on taxpayers’ property holdings, as the end of September will witness a deadline for the first installment of the annual real estate tax.

A detailed report by the specific general secretariat features data from a newly instituted electronic assets statement, which relies primarily on previously declared real estate holdings.

Specifically, just more than two million taxpayers in Greece declared a single property for tax purposes.

Declaration in this case refers to full or partial ownership, as well as “bare ownership”.

Some 1.39 million taxpayers listed two properties; nearly 900,000 taxpayers listed three properties; 556,683 taxpayers declared four properties; 339,592 five; 219,924 six; 139,489 seven; 95,141 eight; 63,718 nine properties; 45,381 taxpayers declared 10 properties;

122,037 people declared between 11 and 20 properties; 13,773 people declared between 21 and 30 properties; 4,289 taxpayers declared between 31 and 50 properties; 979 taxpayers declared 51 and 100 properties, and finally, 145 taxpayers declared 100 or more properties.

Some 2.8 million taxpayers, 44.5 percent of the total, will pay 200 euros or less. Of those, one million taxpayers will pay under 50 euros for 2016.

Exactly 739,853 property holders must pay real estate taxes exceeding 750 euros for the year. Of those, 12,354 taxpayers will be tapped to pay more than 10,000 euros this year, whereas 97 individuals owe the tax bureau more than 100,000 euros each for property holdings.
