Greece’s transport ministry is reportedly allocating 197 million euros for upgrades at six regional airports not included in a tranche of 14 facilities handed to a consortium led by Germany's Fraport, following a successful international tender.
The remaining state-run airports set for upgrades are in Kastoria, Milos, Syros, Naxos and Hios (Chios).
Funding will come from the “Juncker package”, an EU-wide stimulus package named for the EU Commission president.
A Public Private Partnership financing scheme will reportedly be employed.
