Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Thursday referred to a “deep democratic change” in the country, addressing party cadres of his ruling SYRIZA party’s political secretariat.

He framed this “major change” with a timetable extending to 2021, no less, which would mean that no snap elections occur until the current term runs out in 2019 and a subsequent election victory that year.

As a goal, Tsipras referred to a “new Greek constitution for 2021.”

“The first leftist government is obliged to leave its stamp on the challenge for major changes to the state, political system and the institutions,” he said.
