Greek FinMin Euclid Tsakalotos this week again urged the IMF to “water down its wine” -- i.e. opposition -- in relation to the Greek program (third bailout review), while again pointing to a target of April 22 for achieving a first review of the program, which would coincide with ascheduled Eurogroup meeting.
“The (IMF) technocrats must respect the social conquests of a European country,” he said, in relation to one of four institutional creditors the Greek state relies on to keep its finances afloat.
His comments were carried in the Athens daily “Ta Nea”.
“Labor relations are one of those conquests and it is not possible for a European country to aim for an inferior collective bargaining regime,” he said.
Tsakalotos also claimed that his government’s proposals for pension reform are “gaining ground” because they do not “burden the poor”.
