The state-run the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) on Monday announced that it would begin the process of selling two Airbus aircraft A340-300 via an international public tender.

The aircraft were left over from the merger of Olympic Airways with Aegean almost a decade ago, remaining unused for years on the tarmac of an Athens airport -- and raking up maintenance and parking costs in the process.

One hurdle remaining for the sale is to transfer the planes’ titles from the Greek state to the privatization fund. A press release refers to an “as is -where is” clause.

A Call for Proposals (RFP) was posted earlier on Monday on www.hradf.gr with all the terms of the tender.
