Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis began the online cabinet meeting on Thursday by presenting another aspect of the situation regarding the progress of vaccinations and sending a message to those "who are betting on artificial division".

"Before we start I would like to speak of the pandemic ahead of the implementation of the new measures on Saturday. As we have said many times there is a substantial surge in cases, which is mainly a surge in cases among the unvaccinated. There is great pressure on the national health system in northern Greece," he said.

However, the prime minister pointed out, there was also another side to the situation and this was that over 60,000 vaccination appointments for a first dose of the vaccine had been made in the last three days, while the flow of appointments for a booster shot of the vaccine was steady at approximately 30,000 appointments a day.

"So, the message to those who bet on artificial divisions is still just one: we get vaccinated, unite, take our lives back and move on," the prime minister said.
