Another single-day record of confirmed Covid-19 cases fell by the wayside on Friday, as the number of new reported infections reached 1,690, a day after briefly falling from Wednesday's previous high in the east Mediterranean country.
Moreover, another five related fatalities were reported.
The total number of coronavirus cases exceeds 37,000, while the related death toll stands at 620.
A spike in the number of patients with coronavirus being treated in hospital ICUs was also reported, at 128. The average age of this group is 65, and with 92.2 percent either suffering from an underlying condition or are above the age of 70.
