An earthquake shook the greater Athens area on Friday afternoon, at roughly 13.51 (11.51 GMT), with initial but unconfirmed reports referring to a strong quake in the central part of the eastern Aegean, off the Asia Minor coast. The earthquake lasted for more than 10 seconds.
If confirmed, the magnitude of the tremor would be sizeable, as it was felt a few hundred kilometers away on the Greek mainland.
