Greek-controlled ocean-going shipping accounts for 53 percent of the European Union total, and 21 percent of the global fleet, figures in the annual report by the Union of Greek Shipowners (UGS) revealed this week.
According to conclusions in the report, released on Tuesday, the biggest challenge now faced by the sector over the past year included now restricted borrowing sources, and primarily, political pressure for better environmental specifications for vessels.
