The Athens Stock Exchange (ATHEX) closed at its lowest level (641.23) over the past year and a half on Monday, weighed down by an imploding banking index, which was down by 6.45 percent from Friday's closing.
Eurobank lost 11.58 percent; Piraeus Bank by 10.95 percent; National Bank by 4.76 and Alpha Bank was down by 3.17 percent. Only non-systemic lender Attica Bank posted marginal gains of 0.76 percent.
