The latest high-speed ferry in Seajet Plan's fleet arrived at the port of Piraeus this week, with the "WorldChampion Jet" - the former HSC Villum Clausen - set to bring its record-breaking speeds to routes connecting the Greek mainland to various Aegean islands.

The fast passenger ferry is credited with breaking the world record for fastest ferry when it debuted in 2000.

The 6,400-gt vessel is 88 meters long and 24 meters wide. It is powered by two General Electric LM 2500 turbines, able to crank out 50,000 kw, with a cruising speed of 44 knots and a top speed of 50 knots.

The WorlChampion Jet can carry up to 1,200 passengers. It features several lounge areas, a restaurant, a bridge deck bar, a playground and shopping area.

The vessel was built in 2000 by the noted Austal Ships yard in Perth, Australia for Denmark's Lessors Borholmstrafikken, before being sold to Seajet Plan last month.
