Nearly 90 percent of pensioners in Greece - 2.24 million - receive only one monthly benefit, whereas 9.5 percent - some 251,000 beneficiaries - receive two monthly benefits, mainly retired engineers and lawyers.
The latter categories of professionals often paid contributions and were beneficiaries of two different pension funds during their careers.
A very marginal 0.5 percent of pensioners in the country receive three or more monthly retirement benefits.
The figures were revealed in Parliament on Thursday by relevant Deputy Social Insurances Minister Tassos Petropoulos, in answer to a tabled question by ND deputy and former Athens mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis.
