City of Athens, Aegean and Airport team up to better promote Greek capital

The municipality of, Aegean Airlines and the Athens International Airport have joined forces to promote the Greek capital  as a cultural landmark  and as a year-round tourism destination.

The Athens Tourism Partnership (ΑΤΡ), an initiative aimed to better promote tourism in the Greek capital, was presented on Thursday by Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis at City Hall.

The municipality of, Aegean Airlines and the Athens International Airport have joined forces to promote the Greek capital  as a cultural landmark  and as a year-round tourism destination.

The campaign is being financed by the members of the partnership, with the contribution of municipality secured through an exclusive donation by the Hellenic Initiative. The overall coordination is being carried out by Marketing Greece. 

An inaugural promotional video showcases 51 images from around the city in a minute – from the familiar to the lesser known – combining Athens' ancient and modern characteristics and offering something unique all year round.

The campaign’s website www.thisisathens.org is phasing in what will eventually be a total of 103 "stories" presenting snapshots of daily life in Athens, as well as featuring a broader view of Athenian life over the four seasons of the year.
