A "hiccup" between the German-Greek consortium that won a concession for 14 regional airports and the relevant transport ministry was averted this week, after scheduled runway maintenance at Thessaloniki's airport over the peak summer months was postponed.
The consortium reportedly agreed not to press for completion of the works during a prescribed timetable included in the concession contract, while reportedly expressing objections over maintenance works during the period.
The announcement was issued by the transport ministry, which cited a request by the Fraport-led consortium and negotiations over "several weeks".
Sources close to Fraport told "N" that reports of the consortium's departure from the tender by the Greek privatization fund (TAIPED or HRADF), which is expected to be concluded by the end of January.
In fact, Fraport Greece Alexander Zinell announced this week that negotiations with the Greek government for the Macedonia Airport of Thessaloniki will be successfully concluded, "to the benefit of all sides", within days.
