A 60-year-old woman and her five-year-old grandson, identified as Kurds from Iraq, were killed in a fire at the Moria "hotspot" on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos on Thursday evening.
According to fire brigade inspectors, the blaze erupted in a tent shared by the two, following the explosion of a gas canister used for cooking.
Another woman, 25, and her child suffered severe burns and were airlifted to an Athens hospital. Another 10 people at the camp, which holds irregular migrants as well as Mideast war refugees, were injured, primarily from smoke inhalation.
The incident was reported at roughly 11 p.m.
