Well-known Greek businessman and investor Andreas Vgenopoulos died in the early morning hours of Saturday from an apparent heart attack. He was 63.
Vgenopoulos founded the MIG investment group, which was active in Greece and southeast Europe, especially through its majority stake in Vivartia, a holding company that includes some of the country’s best known companies, from dairy makers, hospitals, a fast food chain to coastal shipping firms.
He had also been a very high-profile past investor in the Panathinaikos football team, while having been an amateur athlete in the same club as a champion fencer.
