A far-leftist terrorist group on Thursday assumed responsibility for a twin bomb blast in central Athens on Wednesday evening, saying the attack did, in fact, target an appellate court prosecutor who resides in an apartment near the explosion.
A statement taking responsibility for the attack, and ostensibly authored by the “Revolutionary Nuclei of Fire” terror organization, was posted on a Greek-language website preferred by self-styled anarchist and anti-state activists.
No one was injured in the blasts, with only material damages reported.
Police believe explosives were placed next to a garbage can and under a police officer's parked vehicle in the central Athens district of Exarchia.
