Greek consumers are increasingly turning to the Internet to take advantage of various types of transactions and to exploit perceived online opportunities, according to a recent study by PayPal/GFK.
According to the study, some 95 of online consumers based in Greece access overseas online shops, particularly those registered in the UK, China, the US and Germany.
In a reversal from past reluctance, 88 percent of respondents in the study said they do not hesitate in making online purchases from overseas traders.
Additionally, 37 percent of respondents said they regularly receive e-payments for online services, whereas 13 percent sell personal items over the Internet, mainly items they longer wish to use.
According to Matt Komorowski, Paypal’s managing director eastern and central Europe, his company’s Greece-based clients are starting to realize the benefits of online trade, with 24 percent of respondents saying they have received money via the Internet from friends of family members over the last year.
