In response to reports out of Ankara on Friday evening regarding a purported military coup, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was briefed by the head of Greek intelligence at just after 22.30 (20.30 GMT).
The Greek premier reportedly asked the intelligence chief to also brief main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Afterwards, Tsipras spoke with the defense minister and the chief of the general staff.
Sources merely emphasized that Athens is following developments in the neighboring country closely but calmly.
