Unemployment may remain at sky-high levels and capital controls still imposed, alone amongst developed states, yet one job is apparently in high demand by the Greek finance ministry: cash-sniffing dogs!
In fact, a finance ministry circular posted on the internet appoints a three-member panel whose sole purpose will be to judge the capability of candidate canines to assume the role of “cash catcher”.
Conditions for successful dog candidates are cited, such as being young and not … irritable, something mentioned in the posted announcement. Nine conditions, in all, are given, with the first citing a preference for German Shepherds, Labradors and Belgian Malinois.
