Main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis wound up his three-day visit to Israel on Monday by meeting with Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, with the former terming the two east Mediterranean countries as pillars of stability and democracy in an “extremely sensitive and difficult region”.
The ND president and former minister said a further deepening of bilateral relations, as well as continued cooperation with Cyprus as part of a tripartite partnership, now comprises a foundation of Greece’s foreign policy.
Mitsotakis said Greek-Israeli cooperation now extends beyond defense, security and energy-related issues, and now seeks to boost cooperation on the economic and trade front.
