The relevant deputy economy and development minister on Wednesday revealed a government plan to institute an electronic licensing system for most Greek businesses, which have operated for decades in one of the more bureaucracy-laden economies in Europe.
Deputy Minister Theodora Tzakri made the statement during the second annual “Naftemporiki” business conference in Athens, entitled “A Leap Forward – Best Strategies in the Years of Crises”.
The initiative comes with the assistance of the World Bank.
According to Tzakri, licensing will be managed online for new businesses in the sectors of food and beverage production, restaurants-bars-cafes and tourism-related enterprises, with an expansion to other sectors to follow.
The envisioned system, to be located on a dedicated website, will brief interested parties on what is necessary in terms of documentation, receive applications and the documentation and also show the course of completion for the entire process.
