The Greek state will now start issuing three-year and five-year visas to eligible Russian citizens, a Greek deputy foreign minister said on Wednesday from Moscow.
Nikos Xidakis made the statement during a meeting with Russian Federal Agency for Tourism (Rosturizm) head Oleg Safonov.
The Greek side also promised to accelerate the process for issuing tourist visas at various Greek consulates in Russia, a process that in the past was fraught with delays and, at times, with a lack of transparency.
Xidakis said 9,000 visas were issued by Greek consular authorities in May.
