Greek financial crimes prosecutors are expected to begin checks and probes on the Greek citizens that appear on the so-called “Panama Papers” as managers of offshore companies or foundations.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in the country are also expected to request assistance from the Central American country’s judicial authorities. Panama has in the past served as an “offshore haven” for companies and individuals, while also a favorite “flag of convenience” for shipowners.

As such, it remains to be seen what assistance will be forthcoming vis-à-vis a request by an individual country.
