A tax on the possession of ocean-going vessels generated a modest 17 million euros in 2015 for state coffers, the alternate finance ministers said in Parliament on Wednesday.
Minister Tryfon Alexiadis said the same figure for 2014 was 13.15 million euros.
He was responding to a tabled question by three communist party deputies on how much Greek shipowners and shipping companies paid in “voluntary taxes”, since a relevant framework was first enacted in 2013.
Alexiadis said Greek shipowners paid more than 40 million euros in 2014 and 45.4 million euros in 2015.
