The leftist Greek government over the weekend demanded negotiations in “good faith” from the IMF, one of four institutional creditors overseeing the so-called “Greek program” (third bailout), hours after the Guardian published what it charged was a leaked conversation between two top IMF executives.
One of the more ominous portions of the alleged conversation was the need for a “credit event” to pressure Greece, other bailed out euro zone members and European creditors.
Guardian said the leaked information was funneled to the press by whistleblower Wikileaks.
