At least eight people sustained minor injuries in the latest melee to break out at temporary shelter hosting Mideast refugees and other third country migrants, with the most recent incident taking place late Wednesday evening at the port of Piraeus between Syrians and Afghans.

The violence, mostly rock-throwing between two groups of men, was reportedly caused by an Afghan man’s advances towards a Syrian man’s wife, although police have not confirmed the cause of the violence.

The incident took place at gate E2 and E1 at the port of Piraeus, where some 5,800 people are being sheltered after having been ferried over from various Greek islands – and following their landings on Greek territory after illegally exiting neighboring Turkey.

The violence ended with the appearance of riot police on the scene.
