Bulgarian drivers frustrated with an ongoing roadblock of the Exochi border post on the Greek-Bulgarian frontier, by protesting Greek farmers, set up their own roadblock on the Bulgarian side in retaliation late on Wednesday evening.
The development stopped the flow of vehicles from Bulgaria to Greece. A day earlier, local farmers on the Greek side warned that they would block the customs post indefinitely for trucks, while only allowing cars and buses passage at certain hours of the day.
Farmers are protesting around Greece over the past in month in opposition to the leftist government’s intention to raise taxes in the farm sector and change the pension regime.
