Official Athens continued to vent its anger on Wednesday against several western Balkan states and the Austrian government after the latter took steps to curb the flow of Mideast asylum seekers and irregular Third World migrants flowing through southeastern Europe towards western and northern Europe.
Greek Migration Minister Yannis Mouzalas charged that the situation was creating a 'mini humanitarian crisis' in the country.
"It’s scandalous... that five (national) police chiefs can overturn a decision of European Union ministers on the matter," Mouzalas was quoted by Reuters as saying.
Police chiefs of Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (fYRoM) met in Skopje to discuss ways of tightening their border controls.
It should be noted that Serbia and fYRoM are not EU members.
