Μανχάταν: Φωταγωγήθηκε το χριστουγεννιάτικο δέντρο του Rockefeller

Χιλιάδες κάτοικοι και επισκέπτες της Νέας Υόρκης συγκεντρώθηκαν και φέτος στο Μανχάταν, προκειμένου να παρακολουθήσουν τη φωταγώγηση του χριστουγεννιάτικου δέντρου του κέντρου Rockefeller.

Το δέντρο φωταγωγείται κάθε χρόνο από το 1931, μόλις έγινε παρελθόν η μεγάλη ύφεση του 1929.

Το φετινό δέντρο έχει φέτος ύψος 23 μέτρων και ζυγίζει 12 τόνους, ενώ είναι διακοσμημένο με 50.000 πολύχρωμα φωτάκια που συνδέονται μεταξύ τους με καλώδια μήκους οκτώ χιλιομέτρων.

Στην κορυφή του, λάμπει ένα μεγάλο αστέρι από κρύσταλλα Swarovski, βάρους 250 κιλών.

Τα φώτα του δέντρου άναψε ο δήμαρχος Νέας Υόρκης Μπιλ ντε Μπάζιο, ενώ ακολούθησε ένα ξέφρενο, μουσικό πάρτι, στο κέντρο του Μανχάταν, κάτω από δρακόντεια μέτρα ασφαλείας.
