Despite a huge cleanup program, Rio de Janeiro's Guanabara Bay remains badly polluted by raw sewage and industrial waste.Government programmes to restore the bay have gone on for more than a decade and cost an estimated one billion dollars. Those efforts have yielded little reward and environmentalists say the area is an ecological disaster zone. Reuters reporter Darcy Lambton has more.
