Clashes break out in Athens between police and demonstrators protesting against the Greek government's planned pension reforms.A protest march by thousands of striking workers in the Greek capital turned violent, on a day where a 24-hour nationwide walkout brought much of Greece to a standstill. Transport and services were affected, schools and banks were closed and there were intermittent power cuts. The public was also growing concerned as streets filled with mountains of garbage.
